IONIC WATER TECHNOLOGIES, INC. PRESENTS AT 2009 ASMR/BLR SYMPOSIUM

INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY PRESENTATION

IWT Technology Director Tim Tsukamoto, Ph.D. is a featured presentor at the upcoming American Society of Mining and Reclamation and Billings Land Reclamation Joint Symposium (the “Symposium”), May 30 – June 5, 2009 in Billings, Montana. Dr. Tsukamoto will present “Multiple Site Evaluation of RCTS™ Acid Mine Drainage Treatment, Emergency Mobilization, and Lime Utilization” as part of a session highlighting “Industrial Innovations” that treat mine-impacted waters. 

The Symposium provides an important forum for the dissemination of information that may lead to change and innovations in public policy, mining, reclamation, and land management issues. IWT’s presentation is one of approximately 96 research/demonstration studies chosen as an important solution or approach to managing mined lands and resources. Presentation sessions include Revegetation, Water Management, Mine Influenced Water, Soils and Overburden, Technological Tools, Industrial Innovations, and more.

TOUR OF MINE RECLAMATION - RCTS WATER TREATMENT IN ACTION

Symposium attendees are also invited to tour the Zortman/Landusky Mines, an underground workings dating to the late 1880’s, later reopened as cyanide heap leach operations between 1970 and the late 1990s. Reclamation has been completed, but water treatment is ongoing. The tour will showcase successful reclamation, explain state-of-the art water treatment activities, and discuss conditions and treatment of acid water in Swift Gulch, draining the north side of the Landusky Mine. IWT is presently an onsite subcontractor/consultant to Spectrum Engineering’s water treatment work and the site uses two RCTS units for various treatment activities.
